I am an evolutionary biologist. I enjoy thinking about the processes that generate morphological diversity, which then enables behavioral and ecological diversity.

I am especially interested in anatomical “mysteries” — the enigmatic anatomical structures found throughout nature with unknown functions and evolutionary histories. My other primary scientific interest is animal locomotion, and my overall research objective is to learn how anatomical novelty enables new locomotor functions.
