Biological research and teaching activities at UW are extremely broad and varied, including the use of specialized techniques and development of numerous collaborative relationships. UW Biology's facilities primarily serve three purposes:
UW Biology is currently constructing a new Life Sciences Complex that will serve as the hub for creating a new model of research and education that is nimble, entrepreneurial, question-focused, and team-oriented. The design principles include openness, flexibility, and modularity, allowing for adaptation when emerging research questions require novel methods and newly developed instrumentation.
