Biology seeks to answer many of humanity’s most open-ended questions: How does the brain work? What are the evolutionary and cellular mechanisms underlying human diseases such as cancer? How might we understand and respond to climate change? How will living systems inspire design innovations in computers, aircraft, and medical devices?
In order to make scientific breakthroughs, the Department of Biology focuses on two critical resources — people and facilities — with an eye toward nurturing creative collaboration across the department and across disciplines.
