My research aims to understand the evolution, biomechanics and hydrodynamics of fish armor, focusing on the family Agonidae or poacher fish. I am curious to how the wide array of morphologies seen in fish armor can affect their swimming performance. I use imaging techniques such as CT scanning, Scanning Electron Microscopy and histology to understand the morphology of armor. Then I use fluid dynamic, mechanics and modeling techniques such 3D printing, flume, Particle Image Velocimetry and material testing to understand the performance of armor.
