Jevin-West
Jevin's general research focus is mathematical biology. More specifically, he is interested in the marriage between information and network theory with biology, addressing questions like how organisms process information obtained from their internal and external environment to produce adaptive behavior. This has implications for many biological processes, including the functioning of the immune system, the behavior of colonial organisms, the ontogeny of multicellular organisms, the coordination of physiological processes within neural (and non-neural) organisms, and the evolution of multicellularity.
Jevin is a post-doctoral researcher working in the Bergstrom Lab. He is working on various projects that aim to answer the following question: how does system structure - the way a system is connected - affect organismal or ecosystem function? Currently, he is using citation networks as a model system for exploring this question, with the ultimate aim of understanding the ontogeny and dynamics of biological networks.
