Thursday, August 7, 2025 - 10:00

Alejandro Rico-Guevara, Biology Assistant Professor, received a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award of $1,200,000 from the Division Of Integrative Organismal Systems. The NSF CAREER Award is the agency’s most prestigious honor for early-career faculty, recognizing those with the potential to become academic leaders in both research and education.

Willem Laursen, Biology Assistant Professor, received a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) DP2 New Innovators Award of more than $400,000. The NIAID New Innovators program began in 2019 and provides support for Early Stage Investigators (ESIs) proposing creative, novel, and high-impact research concepts that may be risky or at a stage too early to fare well in traditional peer review. The program is designed to facilitate the movement of talented postdoctoral fellows into independent positions and to support talented newly independent investigators.

Bing Brunton, Biology Professor, in collaboration with John Tuthill from the UW Department of Neurobiology and Biophysics, received a National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 Grant of more than $500,000 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

Chris Law, Biology Acting Instructor and Affiliate Curator at the Burke Museum, received a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant of more than $600,000 from the Division of Environmental Biology.

Congratulations, all!
