Biology undergraduate student Dania Ahmed was honored as a 2024 Goldwater Scholar by the Goldwater Foundation. The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was created to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering and to foster excellence in these fields. Dania hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in stem cell biology.
Dania credits some of the faculty members in the Biology Department for fueling her passion for science, stating: "Faculty in the Biology Department (Dr. Ben Kerr, Dr. Jacob Cooper, Dr. Karen Petersen) have been some of the biggest driving forces in my decision to pursue a career in scientific research, so accomplishments like this really reflect their unparalleled mentorship."
Congratulations, Dania!
