Casey Self and "Anatomy for Change" students awarded Spring 2023 UW Diversity Council's Diversity and Inclusion Seed Grant

Monday, May 1, 2023 - 16:45

Casey Self, Associate Teaching Professor in Biology, and a team of her students were awarded a UW Diversity Council's Diversity and Inclusion Seed Grant for Spring 2023. These grants support projects for institutional transformation across the University of Washington’s tri-campus community that align with the goals of the 2022-2026 UW Diversity Blueprint.

The award was given to support Anatomy for Change, a student-developed project in the Biology Department. Anatomy for Change is an outreach program for minority pre-health students which provides hands-on workshops within a cadaver lab. Each workshop is led by a teaching team consisting of anatomy course faculty, medical school students and past anatomy student volunteers. The goal of the workshops is to allow undergraduate students to get into the mindset of a healthcare provider as they work through medical case studies.

Congratulations, Casey and the Anatomy for Change team!
