Carl Bergstrom on SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus misinformation

Tuesday, March 10, 2020 - 08:30 to Wednesday, June 10, 2020 - 08:30

Carl Bergstrom, biology professor, has been busy working to raise awareness of the importance of accurate and reliable information regarding the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Together with independent graphic designer Esther Kim he developed a visualization that is now in the public domain for anyone to use.  This visualization has been viewed over a half-million times on twitter alone. It has also been published by the World Economic Forum (in both a daily brief and a detailed story).  CNN, MSNBC, Self, the Washington Post, and many other news outlets have run stories directly based on Carl's work, which is being used by health planners around the world to justify early and strong responses to community spread of the disease.

Carl is working with Esther to develop some followup visualizations based on real data from the 1917-1918 flu pandemic and recent data from China.
