A team of volunteer monitors recently caught an invasive green crab in Westcott Bay, San Juan Island, marking the first confirmed discovery of this global invader in Washington’s inland waters. This project, coordinated by Biology graduate student Emily Grason, trained Crab Team volunteers to detect the invasive threat and monitor Puget Sound pocket estuaries that provide ideal crab habitat.
