Academic Personnel
The Academic Personnel Committee facilitates the process for faculty reappointments, merit evaluation, promotion, and tenure, plus appointments without specific search committees.

The Alliance & Community Development Committee is committed to building identity, strengthening community, and expanding opportunities for direct funding.
Community Empowerment and Access
- The community empowerment and access committee builds and maintains the structures needed to foster a supportive and welcoming departmental culture, constructive expression of ideas, and shared values.
Executive Committee
Grad/Postdoc Program Committee
The Graduate and Post-Doc Committee manages all things related to the Biology PhD program and postdoctoral fellows. This includes the entire graduate “life cycle,” from admissions to orientation to graduate curriculum to building community to awards to ensuring progress-to-degree.
Greenhouse Advisory Committee
The Greenhouse advisory committee meets with the greenhouse manager to discuss efforts on research, teaching, service, outreach, and fundraising.
Opportunity
The Opportunities Committee works towards developing links between faculty and outside support opportunities, and facilitates faculty and staff achievements and awards that reflect their excellence.
Outreach
The UW Department of Biology firmly believes that everyone deserves access to science. We know that sharing science strengthens our community and enriches our community’s understanding of the world around us. And beyond that, connecting with the members of our community is simply fun and inspiring!
