On June 7, 2024, the UW Department of Biology held its graduation ceremony at the Alaska Airlines Hec-Edmundson Pavilion. 2000+ friends and family joined us for the joyous occasion, with much to celebrate. This year, we conferred 541 undergraduate degrees, 3 Masters of Science degrees, and 5 doctorate degrees (two of whom were hooded at the commencement ceremony).

Our commencement speaker was Dr. Anisa Ibrahim, who received her undergraduate degree from the department in 2009 and also received her MD from the UW Medicine in 2012. Dr. Ibrahim is currently a UW Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics and the medical director at Harborview Pediatrics Clinic. Dr Ibrahim’s specific clinical interests include caring for and outreach to immigrant and refugee populations, specifically those with medical or social complexity.
