Robin is a coastal marine ecologist who is interested physiology of habitat forming macrophytes such as kelps. She primarily studies rocky intertidal ecosystems and much of her work takes her to the San Juan Islands and Friday Harbor Labs. Ongoing projects include impacts of marine and aerial heatwaves on an intertidal kelp, thermotolerance of bull kelp, and interactive effects of warming and nutrient limitation of sugar and bull kelps.
Robin is from southern California, where she obtained her bachelors degree at UC Irvine and masters degree at Cal Poly Pomona. Her masters degree focused on understanding the community dynamics and demography of a rare species of rockweed along its distribution in California. Robin spends her free time playing board games and learning to bake new recipes.
