My research interests are tied to the study of the origin and maintenance of biodiversity and the consequences of biodiversity loss throughout deep time. I seek to better understand the abiotic and biotic mechanisms that contribute to trends in the phylogenetic, morphological, and biogeographic diversity of extinct faunal assemblages. I am especially interested in applying modern ecological methods to the fossil record like phylogenetic community structure, species distribution modeling, and biogeography. At UW, I plan on studying mammal community structure throughout the mid-Paleocene (Torrejonian-Tiffanian) of Southeastern Montana
