Degrees

The Department of Biology is currently the largest undergraduate major on the UW Seattle campus. The popularity of our program reflects the fact that Biology is a dynamic, interesting and important field of study. The students and faculty in the Department of Biology are interested in the study of life from molecular, cellular, organismal, community and global perspectives.

The Department of Biology offers two degree programs, one leading to a B.A. and one leading to a B.S. These majors provide training in biology at all levels, from introductory to highly advanced and give students the opportunity to choose a curriculum that best suits their needs.  Specific requirements for each major can be viewed by clicking on the hyperlinks below.

Biology Advising can help you decide which path is best for your individual goals. We also recommend that you see an adviser at least every other quarter. This is the best way for you to stay on track and to learn of new courses and other opportunities in the department and at UW.
